Stroud Council aims for ‘Perfect Parking’ with the help of Parkeon
Stroud District Council has taken positive steps towards achieving the ‘perfect parking scenario’ in Stroud town centre, by installing 32 multi-service, colour screen StradaPAL parking terminals from Parkeon.
The new, future proof terminals have been installed predominantly off-street in town centre car parks and replace existing ‘aged’ machines which have reached the end of their useable life. The solar powered StradaPALs feature a 7” colour display screen which offers the functionality to enhance the parking solution into a multi-purpose sales and information channel with a ready-made connection to the Parkeon cloud, bringing a whole host of new or bespoke applications with new services to end consumers/residents, the operator/local authority and local business, which of course can operate alongside parking. In terms of payment, nine of the new terminals accept multiple payments, including contactless, with the remainder being coin-only with the MiPermit (pay by phone) option.
All of the new parking terminals are linked to the Council by Parkeon’s Parkfolio centralised management information system, as Jon Hillier, South West Midlands & Wales Sales Executive for Parkeon explains: “Parkfolio is an easy-to-use, flexible, web-based system that will enable the Council to control their parking estates by monitoring live, both financial and terminal status in an efficient manner across the parking zones. The Management Information System will ensure that the Council continues to provide efficient and effective parking and enforcement”.
Before placing their order for StradaPAL terminals, Stroud District Council trialled one and were extremely impressed with both its ease of use and reliability. Ashley Nicholson, Senior Community & Facilities Officer at Stroud District Council explained further: “I am delighted with both the product and the service received from Parkeon. As with any project there have been a few minor teething problems. However, our ability to analyse parking trends and financial data has opened up further opportunities to achieve savings, while still ensuring the customer receives a fair and transparent service that reflects value for money. We set out with the aim of achieving the perfect parking scenario; which I believe to be one the customer doesn’t remember as it just works! We have made excellent progress towards this and have every confidence in Parkeon’s ability in helping us achieve our aim”.
